Gastric microcarcinoids diagnosed with magnification endoscopy

چکیده
A 55-year-old lady underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy due to dyspeptic symptoms. Endoscopy revealed a diminutive flat reddened lesion measuring less than 2mm which appeared as an erosion in the proximal gastric body and a second diminutive one in the distal part of the gastric body [Fig. 1a, b]. Magnification Endoscopy with and without Narrow Band Imaging demonstrated distinctly different findings from those of a gastric erosion. At the centre of the lesion, the pit structure had disappeared, and although the capillary network was preserved, underneath the epithelium, a faint yellowish hue could be seen [Fig. 2a, b]. The surrounding mucosa in the gastric body, although normal in conventional endosopy,

A case of multiple gastric carcinoids that could not be preoperatively diagnosed.
Here, we report the case of patient with multiple gastric carcinoids showing histopathological behavior similar to that of type I carcinoid tumors of the stomach. The patient was a 61-year-old man diagnosed as having a gastric tumor, which was revealed by follow-up computed tomography. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed a protruded tumor in the greater curvature and a small polyp in the ...
متن کاملEffective optical identification of type “0-IIb” early gastric cancer with narrow band imaging magnification endoscopy, successfully treated by endoscopic submucosal dissection
BACKGROUND Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is currently considered the minimal invasive endoscopic treatment for early gastric cancer. Most superficial gastric neoplastic lesions are depressed type "0-IIc" (70-80%), while totally flat, classified as type "0-IIb" early gastric cancer, is rarely reported (0.4%). The aim of the present study was to assess the efficacy of narrow band imaging...
متن کاملHelicobacter pylori-negative gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma: magnifying endoscopy findings.
Gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma is uncommon and most patients have an indolent clinical course. The clinical presentation and endoscopic findings can be subtle and diagnosis can be missed on white light endoscopy. Magnifying endoscopy may help identify the abnormal microstructural and microvascular patterns, and target biopsies can be performed. We describe herein the case of...

Gastric cancer is the third most common cause of cancer-related death. Advanced stages of gastric cancers generally have grim prognosis. But, good prognosis can be achieved if such cancers are detected, diagnosed and resected at early stages. However, early gastric cancers and its precursors often produce only subtle mucosal changes and therefore quite commonly remain elusive at the conventiona...
متن کاملMagnification chromoendoscopy in comparison to standard chromoendoscopy for detection of intestinal metaplasia in renal transplant recipients.
PURPOSE Renal transplantation is associated with frequent gastrointestinal complications. Intestinal metaplasia is a feature of atrophic gastritis whereas the diagnosis of Barrett's esophagus is based on histological demonstration of specialized metaplasia. Both conditions are associated with increased risk of adenocarcinoma. The aim of the present study was to assess whether magnification endo...
